We offer comprehensive Alcohol IBA (Identification and Brief Advice) training.

We are now offering free training to all health and social care professionals in Nottingham City. 

This in-person, half-day training session teaches you:

  1. How to calculate and interpret units
  2. The Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and how to complete it
  3. How to have conversations with people about their alcohol use and give safe harm reduction advice.
  4. How to signpost and refer to specialist substance use services

The training will cover:

  1. Most commonly used drugs
  2. An overview of different drugs and the effects, risks and side effects associated with these
  3. Why people might use substances and the potential impact on health and wellbeing
  4. How to give safe harm reduction advice and signpost to specialist substance use services

 Health Shop

The Health Shop provides Naloxone training to anyone working with people who may be at risk of opioid overdose in Nottingham city. Naloxone is a life-saving medication. It is safe, effective, and easy to use. Naloxone has been in Nottingham for over 10 years, and a variety of services have it on their premises or staff carry it as part of an outreach role. The training and provision of Naloxone is free.

 There are two types of naloxone available: an injectable and a nasal version. The team are always happy to provide refresher training and support new staff/organisations to learn how to use it.
